The Challenge
A municipality with land-holdings totaling 10 square miles in one of the nation’s densest and fastest growing metropolitan areas engaged RCLCO to improve its real estate management processes and rationalize a complex organizational structure stretching across nine different departments.
Solution
RCLCO conducted an extensive benchmarking effort to identify real estate management best practices across public agencies, including staffing levels and skillsets.
Using these findings, RCLCO then worked collaboratively across city departments to outline an organizational structure providing enhanced support to key municipal stakeholders
Impact
In-line with RCLCO’s recommendations, the city centralized key functions in an expanded Real Estate Services department with amplified private market expertise. Improved processes also better aligned real estate activities with the city’s social justice and quality of life objectives.
